Bridging gaps by de-risking investment

Financial Risk-Sharing Mechanisms

Low-income households, especially those in agriculture, are highly vulnerable to risks such as adverse weather events and natural disasters, as well as the persistent challenge of limited access to capital for growth and resilience. These risks can undermine economic progress and threaten livelihoods, highlighting the need for innovative insurance products and effective financial risk-sharing mechanisms to protect gains and unlock new opportunities for sustainable development.

We provide a comprehensive range of services in inclusive insurance, supporting insurance companies, financial institutions, and regulatory authorities with market assessments, regulatory advice, product development, financial literacy, and capacity building. Our expertise spans MSME insurance, Shariah-compliant microtakaful, agriculture insurance, and climate risk insurance. We facilitate linkages between insurance providers and agricultural infrastructure, integrating insurance schemes with established risk mitigation strategies to create holistic solutions for value chain actors.

Our projects focus on improving access to insurance products that protect against climate risks, especially for farmers and rural businesses. By strengthening the capacities of local insurance companies and banks, we make it easier for registered farmers to obtain insurance, often linking loans with insurance components to enhance risk coverage against severe weather events.

To bridge the substantial financing gaps for sustainable development and climate action, we strategically use blended finance to unlock private capital for climate and development goals. By combining concessional funding from public or philanthropic sources with private investments, we reduce investment risks and make development projects more attractive to private investors. This approach not only mobilizes capital at scale but also ensures that investments deliver social, environmental, and developmental impact.

We work across sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, SME development, and climate resilience, building partnerships that align investor interests with positive social outcomes. Our services include technical assistance, feasibility assessments, project design, and structuring investment-ready pipelines. We support multilateral development banks, donors, and governments in establishing impact funds, building institutional capacity, and implementing innovative risk-sharing instruments such as guarantees and grants as first-loss capital. In addition, we provide advisory for technical assistance facilities, pipeline development, project structuring, fostering partnerships, impact assessment, and investment readiness.

By leveraging blended finance and inclusive insurance solutions, we help mobilize capital, de-risk investments, and build resilience—ultimately bridging the financing gap for development and climate goals, and delivering lasting benefits for people and the planet.
